Septic tanks are commonly used when a property is too remote to connect it to the mains drainage system. It is usually far cheaper to have a septic tanks or cesspool than laying and maintaining the miles of sewer to deal with the waste. These can be very effective ways of dealing with foul drainage, but they do need to be managed correctly.
On average we each produce approximately 200 litres of waste water per day. Any drainage system has to have sufficient capacity to deal with these quantities, bearing in mind the number of people in the house. |

We usually recommend that this service is performed once a year but this does depends on the amount of waste going into the tank and its size. |
Regular emptying and cleaning of a septic tank greatly reduces the risk of it overflowing or causing blockages in your sewage system leaving it working much more efficiently. |
